Forrest Hylton: Is Colombia's new leader stepping back from U.S. plan to isolate Chavez? Forrest Hylton teaches history and politics at the Universidad de los Andes (Bogota). He is the author of Evil Hour in Colombia (Verso, 2006), and with Sinclair Thomson, co-author of Revolutionary Horizons: Past and Present in Bolivian Politics (Verso, 2007). He has contributed to New Left Review, NACLA Report on the Americas, and CounterPunch, and his short fiction and translations have appeared in the Brooklyn Rail. His first novel, Vanishing Acts: A Tragedy, which won the Ben Reitman Award from CityWorks Press, is forthcoming in 2010.

We hear about the upcoming anniversary of Sean Rigg's death in police custody as well as some of the inspirational and defiant speeches from last week's vigil for Ian Tomlinson.

A group of former FBI and CIA officials have sent a memo to US President Barack Obama stating that Israel will bomb Iran later this month. Michel Chossudovsky says that it would be impossible for Israel to launch an attack on Iran without the US and NATO's green light.

A Group of "VIPS" including former CIA analyst Ray McGovern, are predicting Israel will attack Iran as early as this month which would lead to World War III. McGovern explains that the U.S. wouldn't have the resources to get involved in another war. This group, Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity, sent a memo to Obama warning him of this attack. McGovern discusses the threat of a nuclear Iran and says Israel is not motivated by a fear of Iran's nuclear weapons.
